Six years ago today, I competed in my first bodybuilding show. It was a lifelong dream and I’m so blessed that my Dad was right by my side.
He was failing in health and I remember he was really uncertain about coming to this event. For someone with aggressively progressive dementia, it was a big deal.
Thank God @csexton18 @tori.cline and @cline_exsc were by HIS side to make sure he felt comfortable.
Looking back, I always made this day about what I accomplished with my physical being. And while that was impressive, I had never once considered how important compassion was.
💝 Compassion for my Dad’s situation,
💝 Compassion for my family and friends who had my back the whole time…and who had my Dads back.
💝 Most importantly, compassion for myself. My mind and soul felt amazing and my body looked amazing, but it so needed compassion, nourishment and kindness.
Be good to yourselves, friends, and appreciate what your physical body can do. Appreciate those around you while they are here physically.
And please, practice compassion.
